Keep your lungs healthy with aerobic exercises

You can keep your lungs healthy with aerobic exercises that are easy to work into your exercise routine and leave you feeling amazing. Your lungs are the powerhouse to your entire body and the more efficiently they function, the better you feel. 

Physical Benefits

When you work on the endurance factor for your lungs you increase muscle definition while decreasing your weight, resting heart rate and respiration. Healthy adults should engage in aerobic exercise three to five times a way for 30 minutes each day. This can be in a variety of activities, the key is to find something you like to do. 

Disease Prevention

When your lungs and body are healthy your body is better able to fight disease and prevent illness. Heart and lung disease and the two most prevented diseases from aerobic exercise. Keeping your body in great form also helps prevent cancer, diabetes and other life threatening diseases.

Types of Activities

There are a wide variety of aerobic activities you can choose from. The idea is to find something you like to do or can do with a friend to stay committed. Some of the best aerobic activities for your lungs are: 

  • Running
  • Biking
  • Swimming
  • Kickboxing
  • MMA
  • Step aerobics
  • Gardening
  • Walking

Don't hestitate to take a dance class or check into other new and exciting options. If you have a condition or situation keeping you from exercise, consider swimming as it's the easiest on the body. You can get the same aerobic benefits without the stress on your joints. Water aerobics is a great choice for senions, overweight people and those with mobility issues.

You can keep your lungs healthy with aerobic exercises when you take the time to find something you like to do and understand the benefits.
