Ingredients that make shakes taste better
Protein, endurance and other forms of diet and fitness shakes are a great way to start your day or recover from a workout, but the taste can be less than impressive. There are ways to add ingredients to make shakes taste better without compromising the nutrients.
Instant Coffee
If you're a coffee lover this is a great way to boost your shakes appeal and put a little kick in your step. Because caffiene speeds up the system, adding instant coffee can also boost your metabolism just a bit. Add one teaspoon to a chocolate shake for a sily mocha flavor or to your vanilla shake for an iced coffee appeal.
Organic Peanut Butter
The natural sweetness in peant butter will smooth out the flavor and texture of a protein shake. It can also thicken it up a bit and adds another boost of protein. Add one tablespoon to your shake to add in healthy fats, fiber and other vitamins.
Frozen Berries
Frozen berries are great for turning your shake into a smoothie and softening the texture just a bit. Add one cup to the blender before blending to add antioxidants and other vitamins in a low calorie form.
Peppermint Extract
While peppermint has little nutritional content, the flavor can make a major change to the flavor of your shake. Mint also has appetite suppressing properties which can help your shake stay filling for longer. This can help your overall calorie count and thus help you burn fat faster and lose weight more effectively.
All of these ingredients are easy to find and can tossed in the blender with the other ingredients when you blend your shake. Try these separately or pair a couple together to reach your desired taste.
